Please vote if you haven’t already.

My daughters are fans of Yaldah Magazine. It is a magazine for Jewish girls created, written and edited by Jewish girls. Leah Larson, who started and runs Yaldah is a finalist in Wells Fargo’s “Someday Stories” contest and she is running neck and neck to win the grand prize of $100,000.00.

Take a look at the video here; Our contestant is Evelyn from MA.

And then vote for Evelyn from MA ;(Leah’s mom) to help make Leah’s dream come true.

Every Jewish blog should feature this link. Extremely impressive young lady.

Thank you so much for spreading the word about this. Due to Shabbat and the chagim of Tishrei, observant Jews get 15 fewer days to vote and campaign for Leah, out of about 45 total days of the contest. (Voting closes 11/10/08)

Leah is a true kiddush Hashem. Whatever anyone can do to help Leah and YALDAH Magazine expand and succeed – voting, linking, publicizing – can make a huge difference!

Wishing everyone on BeyondBT a gmar chatima tova!

Thanks so much for spreading the word! I just created a widget with info, links & a countdown of how many dates are left to vote. You can embed it in your blog by going to http://www.yaldahmagazine.com (scroll to the bottom of the homepage) and click ‘share’ on the bottom left corner of the widget. You’ll get lots of options for sharing on facebook, myspace, blogs, e-mail, etc.
    Thanks again!

Ummm, I’m not sure that we’re allowed to gather votes for her in this manner. why are these votes going through? because she’s Jewish? Would you object to this if an African-American started to gather votes in the same manner. Probably.

I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with canvassing for votes in this manner. I just meant that any such canvassing should be done among her magazine’s FANS, not among members of her ethnic or other such grouping. thanks.

No, because she’s doing something great for Jewish girls and I’m a fan of THAT.

The contest is a “dream” contest. Participants from across the country submitted their respective stories and five finalists were picked.

Leah’s story is an inspiring one. She was looking for a magazine that “spoke” to young Jewish girls. She wasn’t able to find one. So, she created one! In a day and age when American youth is written off as lazy and unproductive, Leah’s story is inspiring, whether you are Jewish or not. The “dream” that apparently ran second to Leah’s was a dream to become a physical therapist. Surely, we wouldn’t say that only fans of physical therapy should have voted for that story.
