Mazal Tov to Beyond BT contributor Menachem Lipkin and his wife Randi on the birth of a boy this morning.
Here’s the message from Menachem:
We are thrilled to welcome the latest addition to the Lipkin family. Our son was born Monday afternoon at 3:15 in Jerusalem’s Shaarei Tzedek Hospital. He weighed in at 2.8 kg (6.17lbs), has beautiful red hair, and of course has the special distinction of being our Sabra.
We know that he will bring much love and joy to our family.

Mazel Tov Menachem! A sweet boy!
I enjoyed looking at your family photos and I’m afraid I peeked at some of the other archives. May I ask who Sgt. Alan Sherman was?

Wow, didn’t even know that Mark put this up until a friend alerted me. (Been too busy to look at my blogs. :)
Thanks for all of your good wishes.
Leah, my pictures are for everyone to see, peeking is allowed. :)
Alan Sherman was a boy who grew up in my community in Ocean Township, NJ. His family belonged to our Shul in Asbury Park. He was killed in Iraq. The plaque is in front of the public library in Ocean Township.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you all know that we had the Brit this morning, B’zmano (on time). Our son’s name is Yisroel Simcha.
Since Mark has been posting Mussar Shiurim I thought you’d like to know that we named him after Rav Yisroel Salanter, who is considered to be the father of the Musser Movement. Rav Salanter’s actual last name was Lipkin. Though we’re not descended from him we thought it would be meaningful nevertheless.
If you really want to suffer on Tisha B’av you can see pictures and a video of my speech at the links below.
Have an easy and meaningful fast.
Menachem
